CFE needs volunteers! We are currently recruiting more volunteers to assist with our programs; find more information here.
Four grant-based professional development opportunities are offered by CFE to Chicago Public School (CPS) teachers throughout the year. These grant programs are offered to help teachers improve their instructional quality and enhance overall student learning. The four initiatives are as follows:
$500 Small Grants enable CPS elementary teachers to design an implement an innovative curricular project, in the ultimate hopes of disseminating these ideas throughout the school and district.
Study Group Grants train exemplary teachers in peer mentoring, and provide professional development to them as they help their colleagues learn and adapt effective teaching strategies to strengthen instruction.
$1,000 Coach Grants: the 2008-09 application deadline has passed.
$300 Team Member Grants: the 2008-2009 application deadline has passed.
$1,250 Teachers Network Leadership Institute develops the leadership potential of Chicago's most outstanding elementary teachers to conduct action research in their schools, and also provides them with an opportunity to share with colleagues and educational leaders their recommendations for improving student achievement.
2009-2010 application deadline has passed.

$5,000 Fund for Teachers Fellowships provide experienced teachers with the opportunity to explore the world by developing a summer learning experience designed to hone their professional expertise and increase their instructional effectiveness with students.

Professional Development Workshops:
CFE offers Professional Development Workshops led by our Teachers Network Leadership Institute (TNLI) Fellows. The Fellows have adapted their action research projects to assist other teachers in strengthening instruction. Click here for additional details.
